My Corsas are here. The instructions say that to get the car high enough to take out the stock mufflers it should go to a shop with a lift. Somebody here has done it without a lift, right? Did anyone take note of how high the car needed to be off the ground? Will a decent hydraulic jack get it up there? I just thought I'd ask before wasting my time. Any advice is appreciated. (Don't be fooled by the avatar; I'm talking about an 03 vert.)
If you are cutting off the old exhaust with a sawsall you only need a couple of feet.. but if you want to get them off without cutting you need atleast three feet...the stock pipes are welded and you can not get them over the rear cradle without having at least three feet of clearance.
ON a side note, you might as well cut them off because the old exhaust is worthless. You can't even give them away..

Hi, I had mine jacked up crazy high with wooden blocks etc and could not get them off. I always thought backing up on a truck loading dock would of done the trick, just don't go too far! I ended up cutting them off with a nice chain exhaust pipe cutter in case I ever wanted to sleeve them back together. I ended up throwing them away when we sold our house and moved. Good luck.
You do have to pick the car up quite high. With some ingenuity it can be done safely. I used a combination of jacks, stands, ramps, wood and wheels under the car. It was high and it was safe. Once you get them over the axle you can let the car down to a more reasonable level for tightening and lining up.
