Default Hot inside the car!

My car has LG long tubes and RT cats, GHL exhaust. I put them on a couple years ago. Today it's not that warm out (~80 degrees), but it's very warm inside the car, even with the windows open and out on the road at 60 MPH. I don't recall it being this warm in the car when I first installed the headers - maybe I'm noticing it more these days. The A/C works fine, I have no codes, but when the vents are set to outside air it's uncomfortably warm inside. I have a full insulation kit in the interior and a tunnel brace as well. The only way it's comfortable to drive is with the A/C on. I would think that if I had a plugged cat or anything like that going on I'd have codes or the car wouldn't run well. It just seems like it's too warm inside the car, especially cruising out on the open road. Is it just because of the headers?

At 80 degrees and with headers it would be hot in the cabin! Use your a/c on recirc and you will be fine.

Mine gets like that too. I picked up an insulation kit from Marc@VettNuts. This is supposed to keep sounds and heat down. Haven't installed yet, but feedback looks promising.

I have that insulation kit in my car. It helps with the sound deadening, not sure it helped reduce heat in the cabin.

Get some very thin water heater insulation from Lowes or Home Depot. Place it UNDER the carpet along the tunnel wall.

OR take the headers off and get them Jet Hot Coated.

Jeg's has a whole section on sound/heat insulating materials, even light weight stuff if you don't want to add weight to the car. Ideally you want the metal side down to reflect heat.

Just don't make the mistake I did with the black sticky tar type insulating mat on the transmission tunnel. It melts and drips on to the headers. I'm pulling all that junk off and putting on a lava mat. Just the insulation on the transmission tunnel cover makes a big difference, but I would rather make my own and save a little money than buy the pre-made one.
