Today I found out what 600RWHP can do to a stock rear end. Actually, until I can get her up on stands, I don't know if it's the tranny or the diff. Assuming one or the other, and not liking to do things twice, should I buy a built complete unit, or just fix the broken part. RPM, DTE, others? Thanks for any advice, brothers.
I'm running a stock trans and rearend myself with 540Rwhp. I'm not even waiting for the diff to go, next year when I swap out the clutch the rear is getting an upgrade also. You didn't say manual or auto? I vote for doing it right the first time and upgrading.

It's an '02 ZO6, so, aluminum parts trans, and weak halfshafts. I don't think they broke! I'm fairly sure it's the diff. I'm getting the best diff made, and a brace, too. I probably will do a tranny at the same time.
Thats the way to jump in, both feet at the same time. I'm not doing anything with the manual trans, just haven't seen enough issues at my power level to justify it, hopefully others will chime in. The diff on the other hand will get swapped out and the brace is a good idea also.
What is your intended usage for the car ?? Drag, Street, Track ??? Each would require a different approach to insure longevity. RPM seems to be a forum favorite with constant quality ratings and great customer service. Street - recommend strengthening maybe a level 4, drag, full level 4 and brace, track - same thing with cooler. Fix it right for your application and don't mess with it again.
Get to take it a part again Eh! At least no clutch right?
When mine was at Tom's I had him send the Diff to RPM, I did not want to do it your way & the complete drive line was out anyway. It went back in with a ECS Trans brace.
I was comfortable with what RPM has done & is doing, Tom has also had good success with RPM.
Go for the best you can afford, considering future upgrades and/or the higher power levels you want, if any. Add the brace as well. It makes a difference. Good luck.

My .00 cents
I hate a smartass, that isn't me Tom just tuned my car, I do all the mechanical work. It's a bonding experience, and since I have other cars to drive, it can be up on jackstands for quite a time. It's only got 19k miles, and I've had it 9 yrs. I'm pretty sure it's the diff, but I've got no idea if the tranny was involved. Every time I replace a part it gets upgraded. I was thinking about a C6Z DTE diff? And a Pfadt brace.
OH yeah, no clutch this time. When I brought the car to a stop, I could put it in 1,2,3, and let out the clutch, and the car would move, but to the accompaniment of expensive crunching, popping sounds, and bucking.

Oof. At least things could be worse! Let us know if you're looking for a trans brace in the future!
Great links, Bill, Thank you. As long as I have a car with this much power, I think it behooves me to upgrade the trans, if, in this case, it was just the diff. Early m12 have alot of room for improvement, eh?
This group of people make the Corvette experience much easier.

You will be getting a call. I'm pretty sure it is indeed the transmission, at least, the major breakage. The fluid that covered the rear of the car, and dripped was clear, and light weight. I had RP in the trans, and I found out that the purple goes away! If diff., wouldn't it be heavier, and darker fluid? I'm still too ill to get under the car and jack it up, but the mystery is killing me.
