Problem, please help: Fuel pump and filter location, and how to replace? 2000 C5
After car running like crap and dying out quickly, I check the fuel pressure at the rail. Reads 11 to 14 psi. Car fired up and pressure quickly drops to 9-10 psi and dies out. I'm guessing a bad fuel pump and/or filter. My question is, where do I find the fuel pump and filter? And how to replace them? Also, please post any other areas where a problem may be. Thank you.
I'll add to 8VETTE7's post...the fuel pump ground is back there close to the fuel pump although I personally do not know its exact location. Also, locate the fuel pump relay as you could have an issue with it.
Thanks for the replies. The fuse and replay were the first things checked. I'll change the filter first then the pump if needed. Where are some good places to look for a new filter/regulator and pump?

How did you check the relay? Is it receiving 12 volts from the fuse? Does it have a good ground? What happens when you jumper the relay socket, so the pump runs continuously with the key on?

Yes (voltage). Yes (good ground). Nothing different (jump relay).

filters are readily available...you will need a disconnect tool also easy and cheap.
The fuel pump can be pricey for OEM I got a Lingenfelter Pump and did the swap myself. All you need to do is remove the driver side wheel and drop some heat shields.
That being said my Lingenfelter kit had the wrong tank seal and the wrong screws the gasket they have or had on their site for a 99 was incorrect so make sure you get the correct one. I eneded up using blue loctite on the screws and reusing them along with my old gasket..I was less than pleased. I returned the parts and got my money back but they really didn't seem to care.
Racetronix sells a kit but their rep on here kept directing me to their email as opposed to answering a few questions via PM if you are so busy that you can answer my PM but not answer a simple question regarding your product I won't be buying from you.
