This is soo annoying. I jacked the car up and took the intermediate exhaust off and the driveline tunnel closeout panel out (all 36 bolts) but I could not find the bleeder bolt. I felt over the bellhousing....I know it is there:confused:
Has anyone bled the clutch? Any help would be much appreciated. I am ready to tell the dealership to do it for me.
I followed the intructions from 97vette's web site http://97vette.com/howto/clutchbleed/index.html which is much better than the manual which I have as well.
The manual tells you to remove the intermediate exhaust and driveline tunnel closeout panel and then bleed the clutch. That is all.
Motoracer, As you can see in the pictures on my site, the bleeder bolt is not visible. You have to put your hand between the torque tube and the top of the tunnel. You'll feel it. There is a wiring assembly practically sitting right on top of it.
You need a 7/16" box wrench. Slip that over the bolt head so that the end of the clutch is visible on the driver's side of the torque tube. Have someone push the clutch pedal to the floor. Twist the wrench towards the passenger side of the floor until you get fluid all over the place. Don't put your head right under where your wrench is or you'll get it in your eyes. Retighten and have someone pull the clutch pedal off the floor. Repeat. It's not a hard procedure once you've undone this bolt once or twice. Feel free to email me with any more questions.
The thread is right handed, but you're "behind" the bolt. If you could be inside the C5 the bolt would be under you and right-tighty would work. But, since you're under the whole assembly, you're working backwards.
