Do the research and you will find that MSD's wires are among the best on the market.
We have tested almost every available set of wires for the C5 and the ONLY one we have NEVER had problems with are the MSDs. We have had problems with that high pitched noise coming through the audio speakers with most of the sets out there. The only one that will not do this are the MSDs.
Here is some info you should read on them:
Only 40 - 50 Ohms resistance per foot. Over 40 feet of conductor is wound into a foot of wire. Outer sleeve provides resistance to high heat and abrasion. Available in many custom and universal sets.
The MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wire is "the" performance wire.Engineered from the inside out, the 8.5 offers everything you have everwanted in a wire; incredibly low resistance without electronic interference! In a single 12 inch length of Super Conductor Wire there is only 40 - 50ohms of resistance! That is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire. To accomplish this, we use a copper alloy conductor due to it's great voltage carrying capabilities. This conductor is wound extremely tight around a special center core. So tight in fact, that there is over 40 feet of conductor wrapped into a single foot of plug wire. This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) "choke". This choke, or suppression capability, keeps the EMI inside the wire where it cannot interfere with other electronics on your vehicle. The EMI suppression capability of the 8.5mm wire is equal to a 1,500 ohm per foot wire except you can get 30 times more spark energy delivered to the plug! The outer sleeve that surrounds the conductor assembly is just as impressive. A proprietary blend of silicone and synthetic material produce a sleeve that is highly resistant to high heat as well as abrasion and tears. The MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Plug Wire is available in Universal Kits and Bulk Lengths.
I,ve got the Taylor Sprio-Pro wires and haven't had any problems with them. I also replaced my plugs with the NGK TR55's at the same time. The red wires look good under the hood too.
Yep, I put the GM "Hot-Wires" on mine - you can still use the factory heat-shields, and you get the cool red-wire look, and probably the same performance. I often wonder if the whole spark-plug wire thing is like the speaker-wire arguments audio guys have :)
Whatever wires you pick, be sure they accept those serious-looking heat shields.
You know GM wouldn't spend a penny that wasn't necessary... those 8 shields
gotta be there for a very good reason.
Unless your a real serious racer with Turbo(s) or SC on your motor or the wire color looking good is important stock GM wires are superb. If ypu want to move up run a Talor 8.5mm you dont need 400.00 10.5mm you wont feel any differance except your wallet will lighten.
For serious heat and abuse or even being close to headers check the Taylors reasonable in price we sell alot of them but the stock wire is so good today unless your really going for HI-heat Hi-Po applications the General did a nice job.Yours Truly.David S.
To me the Magnecor wires are the best out there, and the best at noise suppression.
Too many times manufacturers get into the game of how much "resistance" and wire can be measured at, when in reality measuring the resistance of a wire with a voltohm meter tell you absolutely nothing about a sparkplug wires ability to work effectivly. When the 40K+ volts of electricity is fired down a wire, the electrons begin to shear out towards the skin and ride in a magnetic field, called skin effect. Thus measuring or promoting the inactive resistance of a spark plug wire is meaningless.
I find also that Magnecor uses 200 windings per inch, and they do not use coatings that enhance conductivity and reduce emi on the windings like most other manufacturers. With the 200/inch microscoplically wound windings, there is no need to with the magnecors, and they are not prone to failing or deteriorating like other wires that use the coatings.
I like also the fact that Magnecor uses the stock spark plug boots, which also allow the reuse of the factory metal heat shields.
The carbon based wires used from the factory are cheap, and susceptible to heat failure, especially with header applications.

I agree with one exception. I get audio noise on the AM band that was not present with the Delco wires I replaced. Any suggestions for a remedy would be much appreciated
I am thinking on some Clear plug wires! Ya thats what i said. Like the ones Jessy James puts on his Harleys!! You can see the spark go from the coil to the plug.
