Default Cooling Fan Sensor Replacement ??

I recieved great feed back on my last post regarding a cooling fan temperature setting of 226 degrees with the AC in off posistion. Since I live in "FAR" Northern Calif. and ambient temps do get very high, I want to know if any of you have gone to a lower sensor set to maybe 200-210 degree? I have been offered a 180 degree thermostat but fail to see it helping me if the fan doesn't come on until 226.
Any any help !!

Buy a 160 degree thermostat and get your car tuned so your fans come on at lower temps. You can buy a handheld tuner like the diablo predator and do it yourself (very easy) or find a tuning shop or someone with HP Tuners or EFI live to do it for you...

I installed a derale fan control kit. The probe goes in the radiator hose. It works great, my car never gets over 210
even with the ac on. You can set it at any temp you want. I spent 26.00 and its only a couple of wires.

Thanks for help. I am afraid to go down to a 160 thermostat due to the lovely State of California and the SMOG laws that come with it. I will go to the 180 thermostat, and go get the fans re-programed to come on at 210. I didn't know that was possible, and figured I would be replacing a sensor.
Thanks for the insight !!

Does anyone have a link for this kit?

Think you'd probably be fine with a 160 but 180 will work too... Get the first fan temp programmed to come on around 194 and the second one to come on around 200

Kevin, i got it from jeggs on line but i understand pep boys also sells the kit.
If you install it the wires to the fans are light blue under the engine compartment fuse panel. Lift the top ,the wires are on the drivers side of the box .

I live in an area where 115 - 120 degrees is not uncommon. I hate to see any engine waiting for the cooling fan to come on at 226 degrees. Maybe I'm just allittle "old school" due to having worked on serveral engines over the years that burned up, or spun bearings.
I hate to drive in worry over a high temp gage.

Note that you can modify the stock thermostat to open at any temperature you want for under $1, why buy a new one.
