A number of people have done this over the years. From 01-04 you don't need to worry about the bias spring since the cars don't have one. Proportioning in those years was done by the EBCM. Most people used the C5 front rotor as it didn't take any special brackets to hook everything up although you will lose the parking brake doing this. I don't know how the C5/C6 base front rotor compares in size (thickness and diameter) to the C6 Z51 rear rotor but if you don't mind losing the parking brake which is pretty much useless anyways use the C5 front rotor.

The interesting part about this mod is the "yes it can be done but I won't tell you how" mentality from those that have done it. Of course, they are either making money off of doing the mod or they spent money on the mod so they won't tell you how to do it yourself.
I need new brakes and I'm tempted to buy C6Z51 rear rotors to figure it out and then post pics of what to do. Maybe if I find time between all the other projects...

Peter when I can get around to pulling my wheels off I have no problem slapping my old front ones on the back. I still have to do my fuel lines but maybe I can squeeze this in too.

Maybe things have changed in the C5 world since I left it two years ago but it used to be the parking brake was one of the biggest jokes there was. Most of them didn't hold well and there were a lot of complaints over the 10 years I was involved with the C5 forums. I know the ones on my 97 and 03 didn't hold well.

My parking brake didn't work worth a crap for 11 years. Recently I pulled the rotors off and adjusted both sides. Now the brake holds just fine on steep hills, with the transmission in neutral.

My parking brake works fine; but that's probably because I adjust it about twice a year... It only takes about ten minutes to do. If your ebrake won't hold your car up to a degree you won't pass inspection in VA.

If I may ask, are you running the stock C5 size rotor (12.8") in front and the C6 Z51 (13.0") in the rear with C5 front calipers? I know you stated that you cannot comment on what is needed to do so, but do you know if the C5 front caliper brackets were used in the rear as well? Thanks for anything you can share.

If you look at the first picture in this thread, I believe that assembly is all C6 Z51 components. This is according to the owner of that silver car, can't find that thread now

HiVoltage is there any chance you could take your rim off and snap some pics so we know if the are any additional brackets for the rear besides Z51 stuff.

Maybe I missed it, but if I install C6 Z51 rear rotors and C5 front calipers what caliper bracket do I use or do they just bolt up?

Most likely you will use a Z51 front bracket to raise the caliper higher on the bigger rotor
I have an idea to use C6Z06 front brakes all the way around and I'll lose my parking brake BUT I can install a line lock on the rear and bam aux. Parking brake

I have a 02 Z06 with 14" Wilwood rotors with 6 piston Wilwood calipers in the front.
The stock rears are to small. Putting the the C5 fronts in the rear might be a good way to go and save $. I want to keep the E brake so C6 Z51 rotors look like the way to go.

If I were doing this mod, I'd at least do C6Z51 rotors front and rear. Meaning I would put the bigger front rotors on with the different Z51 caliper bracket and use the C6Z51 rear rotors on the back to retain the parking brake. That would yield a larger front rotor and a larger rear rotor than the stock C5 had and would seem to be a more natural fit. You would just have twin piston rear calipers instead of single piston calipers and a larger brake pad, but rotor sizes would be proportional rather than a larger rear rotor than front rotor....which seems a little weird to me....even if it works fine..... My 2 cents.

Thanks, and if you could post a pic like others have requested that would be great. Wonder if you were to use the C6 Z51 front bracket would you avoid having to modify the bracket as it seems required if you use the C5 front bracket?
