Default Help identifing part

I found this part on the garage floor under the front of the car after backing out. I looked at the exploded parts drawing of the front end of the vette and could not find any push pins.

Can anyone tell me where it came from?

Thank you

Bob

There's pushpins on the wheel well area and all over the place. Really hard to know.

I also thought the push pin was from inside the fender well. Looking at the exploded view of the front end of the vette, I cannot see any push pins anywhere. Even the fender well covers, air dam and access panels are mounted with bolts.

I am beginning to believe the push pin was picked up from the road and then dropped on the garage floor.

Help please.

Thanks

Bob

Looks like an interior push pin. Maybe from the door panel.

What have you done to your car recently? That'll help identify the general area that came from...

In March I took out the EBCM to have its relay repaired. I also replaced the window regulator at the beginning of July. The part was found about a month later approximately under the radiator area of the car. The exact location depends on how far I drove into the garage the day before. The door panel push pins are white and about 1/8” in diameter. I stopped by the Chevy dealer parts counter and neither the parts guy nor I could find it on the exploded view. If it did come off of my car I have not noticed anything rattling.

Thanks for your thoughts.

maybe it's the push pin that goes in short trim panel in door jamb between a pillar and kick panel beside dash?

The push pin dimensions are Head 3/4” dia., Pin 1/4” dia., Overall Length 1 1/8”.

I looked at the push pin for the short trim panel at the door jam and it is about 3/8 dia. I looked at my copy of the exploded view again and there are some smaller push pins on the cowl and the top of the front bumper.

I looked at my Chevy truck parked next to the vette and found the exact head configuration holding the fender well covers, but none were missing. I might be looking at the wrong vehicle or the push pin was picked up from the road and then dropped on the garage floor.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.

Heres another area to check, it could have come from the front node of the car where the hood contacts the front facia.

There are six holes there and I think when I installed a new front facia there were a couple of these, one on each end?

Worth a look.

AnteVenom Thank you for the suggestion, unfortunately it is not the push pin in question. I am adding an end view of the push pin that will help identify it. This photo shows the push pin has a truss head.

Did you check the Battery Surround Trim? On my 99 there's one of those holding the panel in near the fuse box.

Ah Ha. There is a pin just like that stuck in the center of the power steering pulley (really). Since you were poking around down there working on the ABS, I bet that pin is now gone. Apparantly all it does is keep the threads on the pump shaft clean so you can use the puller to get the power steering pump pulley off if needed.

Problem solved. JM20’s suggestion of the Battery Surround Trim had the correct push pin but mine was not missing. The Wrench’s suggestion of the power steering pulley solved the mystery. I removed the EBCM on March 22th and the part dropped on the garage floor 5 months later and over 2,500 miles later.

I want to thank everyone who gave suggestions.
