So someone told me that if I buy a new TAC module for my car (we have narrowed the problem down to this) then I have to take it to the dealer to have it "flashed" to my PCM... The car is a 97 auto. It will not start and the "reduced engine power" light is on.
Do I have to take it to the dealer? Anyone know the cost of this?
I put a used tac module from another vette in mine last week it didnt need a flash. Dont know on a brand new never used one, I still didnt think they are available on backorder.
A PCM would have to be flashed but I don't think the TAC needs it. You can put a PCM in yourself and do the security relearn but you would still need to go to the dealer to have the RPO codes entered.
