Default Testing selective damping?

I have a new 2002 coupe with 900 miles on it. I just got it on April 15. My question is how do I tell if the selective damping option is working? I have the dial on the console with the three positions, But the ride seems the same in all of the positions, I think they're tour, sport, and performance. Is there any way to tell if the system is functioning correctly? Thanks.

Here's some pictures of me and my car. http://members.***.net/srcain/

I have the same thing and its hard to tell the difference. Drive on a rough part of a road and switch between the modes. YOu can tell a slight difference when you drive on the same road with different modes. Also you can swarve back and forth a little and can tell a slight difference. :)

Beautiful car lzord

It will be hard to tell a differnce between these settings until you really get a feel for the car and put some more miles on it. After driving all week on "Tour" setting, on a weekend cruise I'll put it in "Performance" and I can tell a clear-cut difference in handling. Try this approach and I think you'll see what I mean. :yesnod: :seeya

This is so true. When you get used to the car (or if your wife has a sensitive back :)), you will have no problem telling the difference. It is a great option for a lot of reasons...comfort AND performance. :yesnod:

The biggest difference you will notice is when you swerve at highway speeds.
With it in the Tour mode, you will get some rocking in the suspension as the car heels over. In the Perf. mode it's all but gone. Less noticeable is when you hit the throttle hard (or the brakes for that matter) The car won't dip as much. Took me close to 5000 miles of driving to figure this out. Now that I know this, I love it.

It took about 500 miles to realize I did not like this system at all, and about another 10K miles before I realized that I wanted it gone and re did my suspension. You first sign besides obviously switching the console from tour, sport, performance, should be felt in the steering wheel. The response or feeling should be tighter in performance and a little loose or more play as you select down to tour. Just my observation, and I think that is what the owners manual indicates too.

The best place that I have found to try out this option is the entrance ramp to a freeway, that is a little curvy. Try it in Tour first and then in performance. You will notice that the car is rock solid, going around the curve, in the performance position and you will feel body roll in the tour position. The second way to try it is take a thousand mile trip. You will feel less exhausted at the end of the trip, in tour mode. I usually leave it in the center position for me and when the wife is in the car, I usually switch to Tour, for her benefit. She loves the car so it probably wouldn't matter to her which position the suspension is in!

I love my F45 (with Z06 sway bars). Early on I read that proper tire inflation really makes a difference in how well the realtime damping is going to work for you. I use touring and the performance settings.... and notice a dramatic difference on twisties and on some crappy sections of freeway where the big rigs have washboarded the road surface.

I couldn't feel the difference at all. Then I found one of those bridges that has a lot of bumps about 1 sec apart. While driving I switched it from tour to perf, and shure enough you could feel a change. Not near as bouncy in perf, but a little more harsh.
