Default To lower a C5

Are aftermarket bolts needed to lower a C5 ? I see a bolt/urethane pad advertised on e bay item # 330553797290 that claims to lower the car
1 to 1 1/2" If the car is lowered does a new alignment become necessary? Thanks

Don't waste your money. You can remove your original adjusters, saw off the double layer of rubber bushing and achieve the same result.
Yes a 4 wheel alignment will have to be done once you have it lowered to where you want it.

I went through this whole lowering thing a while back.

You do not need aftermarket bolts, the OEM bolts will lower the car past the optimum point for improved handling, I recommend not going lower than 1" below stock and you will need an alignment. Cutting the pads on the front adjustment bolts is a bad idea.

Take a look at the first 2 pictures in this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...appy-help.html

The 1st pic is stock, the 2nd pic is with a C6 adjuster screwed all the way against the base of the spring. It still wasn't low enough for me.
I even went as far as removing the adjuster before I got the look i was after but at that point it was just a wee bit too low so i hacked off the rubber insulators on stock adjusters and glued an 1/8th inch thick piece of rubber to the base of the adjuster. I was then able to get the look that i was after, and still have enough clearance so i'm not ripping up the front air dam or bottoming out in dips and speed bumps. I have seen plenty of pictures here in threads pertaining to lowering a C5 along with the comments. Every car is different so the OP will have to experiment, just like everyone else until he can achieve the desired results.

And most of the folks did have to get an alignment, at least from what I read.
