Default Thinking about Modding?

I am just finishing my 12th season of owing my 2000 C5 vert. I bought it new from Kerbeck's on my birthday. It has been modded even before the first year of ownership. You can read the mods below but I wanted to share the total experience during those twelve years.

The Vette Doctor did the engine mods and dyno'ed just north of 500 HP (remember the 2000 car that year came with only 345 hp). Those engine mods never failed. The Doctor did upgrade my headers and high flow cats some 5 or 6 years ago but not one failure. In fact nothing on the cars ever broke. The only thing I replaced (besides all the fluids and tires several times) was the serpintine belt.

The cars sounds and runs exactly like I thought a Vette should but didn't from the factory. The Vette Doctors turned my cars into a dream machine. Everone who drives it can not believe the power, handling and wonderful sounds it makes.

The cheapest mod was lowering on stock bolts if you do not count the 4 wheel alignment and Bilstein shocks needed).

I am just taking delievery on a new GS and yes, it will be back to the Doctor. I am keeping my C5 cause it still is an awesome car that makes me tell myself to stay responsible everytime I turn the key.

So if you are thinking about modding, do it. It turned my Vert into a near perfect world sports car. And I trust no one more than the Vette Doctor. Great people, super workmanship.

That's a lot of RWHP ! Can you be a bit more specific on what the engines mods were that got you from 345 to over 500 ( RWHP- correct?).

Sounds like a fabulous car !

The Vette Doctors have a great reputation...but 500 hp ??

I'm going to assume you meant flywheel estimated. There are very few 346 500+ rwhp (n/a) cars and the ones I've been around were very nasty.

Since you compared your 345 (flywheel horse) to the now 500 hp I can only assume we are talking flywheel numbers.

Which would put it in the 400 to 425 range at the tire. Very respectable by the way.

It good to hear positive things like that and your going to love the 6.2.....with bolt ons..

Thanks...

It was of course the fly wheel number. After the dyno the Doctor put their Percription 500 decal on the rear. If you read the sig it shows American Racing Headers and high flow cats. The Vette Doctor put in the cam and did up the heads, intake manifold, clutch and the programing plus what is now a very old cold air intake

The car runs better than any other car I have ever owned. If the top can go down, I drive it over my 750 LI, Expidtion and 64 409 SS Impala stick.

In looking back over the years, some of the Companies I delt with are gone but the Vette Doctor and Carrvaggio's are still around helping me with questions and future upgrades to new cars. The Class of the Vette Guys are still around for great reasons. Use them and you will only smile everytime you turn the key, big time.
