Default No-Start condition

'99 C5 conv 6-speed. Having gone through all of the recommendations I have found previously posted, I have checked two grounds out on front frame rails, two under the battery, one inside the right front kick panel, one under right door sill, and one behind the passenger seatbelt. Cleaned all with CRC cleaner and coated wtih NOALAX. Erased all codes and new codes that were set indicate the following:
PCM - P1626C
40 BCM - No Comm
58SDM U1000C; U1064C; 1040H
60IPC - U1160C; U1176C
Radio - U1064C
HVAC - U1064C; U1160C; BO367H
Checked all fuses in both boxes. Also removed battery - load tested okay. Removed starter - bench tested ok - 75 amp draw. Removed ignition switch - sanded and rebuilt. Checked ohms - all ok. Car will start if caught in gear. Jumped ignition relay - car will turn over and start. What next? Thanks.

The BCM no comm will be the cause of it not starting and that is what caused the P1626:
P1626 Theft Deterrent System Fuel Enable Circuit

Get to the BCM and look for water damage on or inside of it. If you go to remove it, make sure you disconnect the battery first.

Clear the codes and see if they come right back. Not once have I heard of a BCM being painted black and there's no reason for anyone to do it as its not visible to anyone. Next to the BCM is a serial data buss connector which is sometimes called a "star" connector. Its more like a flat bridge connector with a shorting strp across it and wrapped in tape. Make sure the shorting bar is fully seated.

It sounds like the BCM is having bad problems. You might disconnect the battery, pull out the BCM and open it up. Look for water intrusion into the BCM. I would strongly suggest a wrist grounding strap be worn while doing this, properly grounded of course. Use ISO Alcohol and Q-tips to remove any contamination that you might find.

checked bcm no apparent problems, went 1step further took a test lite to tdc relay by bcm, red had batt. power yellow had ignition in start position then took light and backprobed yellow /black wire and car started no fuel signal so it stalled but would turn over with the key. would this mean it is the bcm or is there more to test,....? as always thanks for the help. bill

The TDR only controls the starter motor, but not the fuel pump. I suggest you PM either Bill Curlee or Lucky131969 and ask for their help. They have the schematics on this and can pinpoint the problem area. Again, the no comm on the BCM is the problem. Yes, it could be a bad BCM but it doesn't happen often.

Ok just put everything back. No change. used jumper to start car. Sits, idles, radio started working. Can not retrain key fobs. Car stalls when you let clutch out. Eraced codes, these reset with car idling: pcm - p1626u; bcm - no comm; 58sdm - u1064hc; ipc - u1160h, u1064hc, u1176h; radio - u1064hc; hvac - u1064hc, u1160h; ao-ldcm - u1064h; a1-rdcm - u1064h; a6-scm - u1064hc; bo-rfa - u1064hc. Traction control will not turn on and off, and rear hatches will not open.

I wish I had schematics to it for you but I don't. You need to verify power to the BCM and a ground path. The serial data buss star connectors are next to the BCM so they should be still taped up with their shorting bars in place. You really need lucky or Bill C's help here or take it to a dealer to test the BCM

Do yourself a favor and open up the bad BCM anyway and look for water intrusion. If water is getting in there, then your HVAC udder is plugged up and more water will get into the new one and you'll be doing this all over again. Still a mystery to me why your original was painted black...

no water intrusion at all but checking that anyway and putting all the kick panels and stuff back together tomorrow during the storm.
