Same issue here just now. Anyone of the previous poster found their leaks with the break cleaner/starting fluid techniques?
for the specialist, is there any reading from OBD plug which could demonstrate the leak in one way or another?
can someone point on a picture at PCV valve and vacuum lines? That would be sweet of you.
Otherwise it will have to wait a month for the oil/wheel change at the workshop.
thanks in advance,
TCFS

Yes, with a scan tool your Long Term Fuel Trims (LTFT) will be elevated with a vacuum leak...when the LTFT reaches 24% a P0171 or 0174 will set and illuminate the check engine light...if you see that the long term is high run the engine at 3000 RPM for a few minutes...if the long terms slowly decrease you have a vacuum leak...this is engine diagnostics 101.

thxs a million @C5 Diag , I got check engine light and P0171 and P0174 during driving, before the leak was audible. Now it is very audible but the codes are not coming…just need to find where and what it is.

My 01 had a similar leak and mine was at the PCV...you can remove the PCV hose at the intake manifold and plug it up...if the long term fuel trims decrease slowly, and the short terms start going negative you can then assume it's in the PCV system.

I found the leak, it is on the rubber junction between the intake manifold and the PCV valve….

the phone did not do the macro photo…. But the rubber is cracked…

anyone with a part number or a name for this rubber part?
thank you in advance,
TCFS

I had diagnosed this for a Forum member a few months ago…we used a little section of 5/16” fuel line…refer to the pics I had posted…there will be no part number for this !!

I repaired it a little bit differently based on what I had at home and in office.
first cleaning with brake cleaner, second seal with urethane sealer, third shrink a hot shrinkable thick wall - 4mm - with integrated adhesive…
should do the trick …. even if a bit overkill.

Cleaned

Sealed with Urethane

Sealed with additional thickwall shrinkable sleeve with integrated adhesive…
