My 62K '03 C5Z has a brand new battery in it, and I get the same message maybe once every 3 weeks. It is only at startup, first thing in the morning. I noticed it only gives the message if the car fires RIGHT when I turn the key. Almost like the car started too quickly. LOL
The message disappears instantly, and no codes are thrown. I have been told to not be concerned about it.
I've done the big three on other vehicles and seen first hand it resolve dimming lights and voltage fluctuation issues. I was asking about the big three in hopes that it might solve this new (to me) "Charging System Fault" message.
Just wondering if those that have seen this message have done this upgrade or not.
I got the "Charging System Fault" message once. When I popped the clutch at 20mph with the ignition on to see if it would start the car.. Guess I shouldn't do that lol
My vette was doing this. Turned out that I had a loose battery terminal that on occasion would open circuit.
I found the field wire connector on the alternator was corroded (oxidized). Took it apart and cleaned it with deoxit. Since then the battery has always been charged up - and no messages.
