I have a 1998 corvette I just bought and would like to replace
the rotors and brake pads. Any suggestions where I can purchase
these online? Also would you suggest slotted rotors? I have heard
about ceramic brake pads but I am not sure if there is any advantage.
I would appreciate any feedback, thanks
Granted my car is a weekend worrier so these were good enough for me.
I have read here of several other guys who have purchased these and were happy with them.
Now if your looking to do Rally Racing kinda stuff then maybe this isn't what you'd want !

If this is just a street car, slotted rotors will be ok. I can help you with brake pads but we do not sell rotors any more.
For a street pad I suggest the Carbotech 1521 compound low dust and rotor friendly with great stopping power.
Need more specifics to know which pads/rotors you need. For just a dd, the d/s look good and work fine with reg Autozone ceramics. Don't cost much and don't dust much. However, ceramics are good for about 1 or 2 panic stops and they have to be cooled. If you track it any, then blank rotors and whatever Carbotechs Adam recommends. Love my XP12s at the track. BTW, 41 sessions on XP8s rears and only 1 cracked rotor - wow!
I used OEM on my 98 and got new front GM rotors for $22.80
Have done the fronts twice and rear once on my 98 C5. Front rotors were cut when I bought the car at 36K so when I replaced pads at 68K got new ones. Drilled ones will crack if subjected to enough heat. Solid or slotted are fine for DD use. Rear rotors seldom need replacement as they do less braking. I am glad I didn't go with ceramic. Made a panic stop when a truck going 40 MPH jumped in my lane on the interstate and missed him by inches. Ceramics don't show brake dust as much. If you aren't Charlie the Tuna you want brakes to STOP not LOOK NICE.
I replaced my pads and rotors about two years ago. Went with Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads and ATE slotted rotors, all from the Tirerack. Great combo. Shortly after installing the new brakes and rotors my club did a road trip up and down Mt. Equinox in VT. On the way down there were some that had to pull over to klet the brakes cool but I had no problems with fade etc.Very little dust also. I don't know if Satisfied still makes the Pro Ceramic of if they have updated!Nice thing about the rotors is that they are plated so the "hats" and the vanes don't rust. Best of luck!!
The 1521 is a ceramic based compoud, but is not a full ceramic pad. Carbotech pads are unique in compounds, there is carbon and kevlar in all of our compounds.
