If it complies with the specs in your owner's manual then it should be fine.

I have only run Mobile in my 2002 Coupe but am considering making the switch on my next oil change. Alot of people have made the leap with no complaints. RP is a very good product.

Made the switch to Royal Purple years ago. I think it's great stuff and my shop swears by it. They have a case waiting for me to pick up tomorrow or Tuesday.

lightening of the wallet perhaps? i dont consider mobil to be super oil but i havent seen a UOA that said mobil failed. the only way to tell for sure is to do a UOA of the mobil that is in your car now and then switch, run the car the same amount of miles and then do another UOA. compare the results and go from there. anything other than actual measured data is nonsense.

Personally, I would stick with Mobile 1. That's what the GM engineers recommend for your C5. It is readily available at most retail locations and frequently found on sale. I see no advantage switching to Royal Purple, Amsoil or any other. Mobile 1 is a top tier synthetic lubricant.

Sounds like someone has been watching old episodes of "Horsepower TV", and saw the 5 RWHP gain from an oil change.....

actually GM recommends a standard. Mobil 1 is one of the ones that meets that standard.

I close friend of mine, said he heard from his brother, who is a GM Mastertech, that going from Mobile 1 to Royal Purple will destroy an LS engine.

The specs in your owner's manual say to use Mobil 1.

Why would GM spend all the time and money stamping everyone's oil caps if they wanted you to be able to switch oils?

You can't use any different brand in your LS engine. ARE YOU CRAZY?!

You'll seize that **** faster than you can say, "Goddamn, I'm an idiot!".

Do you even have a Corvette? Have you read the owner's manual from a 2000 C5?

Who makes up this garbage? That's absolutely nonsense. I haven't used Mobil 1 in years and I bought my 97,000 mile Z06 new. I've used Royal Purple several times with no ill effects, and in fact use it for all other fluids in my car. For the engine oil I'm currently using Pennzoil Ultra. If its good enough for Ferraris OEM fill, I'm sure it will work for me. And BTW, my car still runs absolutely perfect and uses no oil between changes.

I heard something smilar from my friend's son who works at Jiffy Lube, they trashed a couple of vette engines by putting in what they use. I think Jiffy Lube uses penzoil? That jiffy lube store will now only put in mobil 1 on vettes.
