Tried searching and no real explanation of what happened yesterday. The HUD was intermittenly displaying only "--" ....no rpm band, no oil pressure....literally only 2 dashes and would randomly go back to normal sporadically. Thought it was maybe because of a loose connector or something but couldn't really get it to do it by hitting a bump. So I pulled over and there was only 1 code thrown.
HVAC - U1160 H
I cleared the code, and the HUD worked as normal and hasn't shown "--" since. I'm happy that it's resolved but just curious if anyone has seen this issue, or had any information as to what caused that code....if it's even related to the HUD malfuctioning temporarily. Seems like it wasn't since the fix was immediate and has been fine and that code hasn't returned.
It was in the IPC area, not the HVAC. I would think maybe the serial data buss wire in the door accordian tube is having issues at its connector in there.
I have seen the "---" a few times, but it's from going passed 199 MPH. It doesnt sound like thats the situation here.
Possibly a loose connection to the hud or dash cluster connections.
Heh heh, yeah......that wasn't the case...although now you got me curious! The HUD really displays "--" when you go over 199? I'd like to see a pic of that somehow with the speedo in frame

Thank you for the code description!
I have had to play with the door accordian tube wires in the past because the driver door panel would go out. But that was several months ago. I tried to cover any exposed wires and take tension off the connector but looks like I have to do it again. Strange how it's never affected the HUD before until now....oh well. At least I have a course of action now.
