C5 windshield radio antenna

There is a antenna that I have used on boats that is just a flexible wire with a antenna plug on it. It can be hidden anywhere but works best if its stretched out. Since the body isn't metal I think you could find a place to run it out of sight and it would receive a signal. You can also get a antenna wire extension if you wanted to put the antenna in the back somewhere.
Seems like I ordered the last one I got off the internet but can't remember where.

I have heard the Dakota Digital antenna works pretty good.

Yea it was. This happened in Texas but I'm now in Maryland. Not much chance to get back there. I will call and see if maybe they had someone well known do it, but I'm sure I'm going to end up rigging it with something. I can only imagine how much it would be for the whole glass. Ill listen to CDs before that. But I believe if I can connect a wire and hide it under the roof, it should help with reception. Sure wish I would have noticed it before, but I still got a little reception from the rear window antenna I guess. But it doesn't work that great. Thanks for all the help guys. I just wish I could buy a direct plug and stick on my windshield antenna or something.

I know, it's just said a lot of places on here that the rear defroster also contains a second part to the antenna system. I've read it lots of times. Maybe it was for a different type or year? But I know that's what a lot of people are saying.

Not sure about other years but on my 02 it has the rear window defroster and an antenna on the glass, there are the power wires for the defroster on either side of the rear hatch and the antenna wire in the top center. I did not know this until just a couple of days ago when I had some of my interior pieces out and I noticed the wire running up the "halo" was connected to a box and said something about radio on it. Plus it was an antenna type wire too.

Oh well, we vert owners get the ugly stick coming out of the butt end of our vettes. Long ago I decided to install an antenna on/off switch in the cabin so I could hide that ugly stick

Unhappy with reception while spending lots of time in the boonies, I tried a few of those rectangular, flat, home am/fm antennas, like this:

I forgot what brand, but the 3rd one I tried worked so much better than the stock vert antenna, it was still in 5 years later. I plugged the factory connector into an auto antenna extension cable that I cut off and wired to the new antenna.

I had bad reception since I swapped head units, just put in a $20 antenna form auto zone, sticks on the inside of the windshield, great reception now, worth a shot
