I recently had my front windshield replaced on my 2001 coupe, and the new windshield didn't have an antenna. I didn't notice at the time but now im not near the place that did the work and need to find a replacement. I still have the plug hanging by the mirror. Is this installed directly in the windshield or can I buy one somewhere and put it in? And where would I get one? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find one! Thank you!
It's in the glass,so you can't add one,you need the right windshield.
The top part of the "grid" in the hatch glass is also an antenna-look at it and you'll see why you can't add one.

Its a lot like the material that makes up the rear window defroster grid.
Yea. I dont use the radio enough to had relized, but now I'm out of the state an have no way of going back. I wish there were something I could to rather then replacing a brand new windshield!
I don't know squat about electronics but as I understand it an antenna is just a wire. Might need a certain length or such to be most efficient but still a wire. I bet you could fix something up, 'tho it might not be pretty. Check with a radio expert. Good luck.
Pretty crappy that the place who installed the windshield pulled a fast one on you and provided you with the wrong one. If it was a major glass company, you should be able to contact them and arrange for a proper replacement at their expense.
Yea BUT I had it done at the same time I had my car painted, so the local body shop did it. Ill just go on thinking that maybe they installed the lighter Z06 windshield, and that I'm better off. Makes me less angry this way! I'll just go shove a coat hanger in the plug and look way cool.
Check with the bodyshop who did the work.I am sure they subletted the glass work to a glass shop.If it is a large franchise(like Safelite) you probably can get it repaired where you are now for free!
I had the same question myself a long time ago. I think it meant "Fixed Roof Corvette". I do remember that in the earlier years, a hardtop was available.

That was a pretty boneheaded move by the glass shop if you ask me.
Yea it was. This happened in Texas but I'm now in Maryland. Not much chance to get back there. I will call and see if maybe they had someone well known do it, but I'm sure I'm going to end up rigging it with something. I can only imagine how much it would be for the whole glass. Ill listen to CDs before that. But I believe if I can connect a wire and hide it under the roof, it should help with reception. Sure wish I would have noticed it before, but I still got a little reception from the rear window antenna I guess. But it doesn't work that great. Thanks for all the help guys. I just wish I could buy a direct plug and stick on my windshield antenna or something.
