I have the Nitto 315-17 drag radials mounted on Zr1 rims now. However they absolutely suck at hooking up for me! I noticed several brands of 315-17's at tire rack. I assume that BFG's are the one's to go with. Does anyone know if the BFG Drag Radials at Tirerack are the correct ones? They sure look like more of a street tire than drag radial...
Anyway the poll is here in case someone can think of a better tire. Thanks.
Re: Which 315 Drags Radials to Replace Nittos with? (C5-VERT)
I'm surprised your having traction problems with the Nitto's. I have the street version 555's and they are a great street tire but i was consifdering a CCW wheel and Nitto 315 x17 DR. Are you heat cycling the tire in the burnout? Are they hot enough ? :confused:There are many CF members have used this DR with success  Why are you have such bad luck with these DR's?
Re: Which 315 Drags Radials to Replace Nittos with? (vstella)
Yes I am heat cycling the crap out of them. I am also running 15lbs of pressure. The only thing I can think of is the track is not prepped very well. After all every time I have run it has been import night... :U
Re: Which 315 Drags Radials to Replace Nittos with? (C5-VERT)
From what I have read, the BFGs hook considerably better than the Nittos, but also are TERRIBLE  in the rain. They also wear out about 2x as fast as the Nittos.
Nittos are the better all around tire for handling, acceleration, and wet driving. But if you are looking for the closest thing to a slick, without it being a true slick (ET Streets, Drags) the 315 BFG is the way to go.

I can't tell from your sig if your car is stick or auto. The nitto's stiffer sidewall just doesen't work as well on my stick car's as well as they did on my automatic's. BFG's are easyer to work with but don't last very long. Ric

I have an MN6 and I have tried running with numerous tire pressures.
Ok, can someone tell me if the BFG's that are available on TireRack are the correct ones. It just seems to me like the tread looks more like a street tire than a drag radial.
Re: Which 315 Drags Radials to Replace Nittos with? (C5-VERT)
I've got the 315-17 nitto drags on my Cobra (414rwhp).... They hook great... for a street tire. But they are not slicks! As long as you keep that in mind you will be happy. I picked the Nittos because they are on the car always... the BFGs are REAL BAD in the rain! It rains here in FL all the time.

Thanks guys for the help. Of course wet roads do not apply as these will only be used at the strip. Hopefully I can try them out here in the next couple of weeks...
