Clutch pedal clicking noise on release
I started getting a clicking noise when i release the clutch. It clicks multiple times all the way from the floor up. I can hear the clicks and feel them too. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks !
Thanks !

Have you replaced the clutch fluid recently? I had a click noise right after switching to DOT 4. It went away after about three days of driving.
And then replace it with a new one if you don't want to have issues later. That little spring really does have a job. Believe me, if it wasn't needed it would be in there in the first place.
This is why, with the stock master cylinder the “over-center spring” is needed. It has a few functions that you don’t want to be without. At the very top of the pedal stroke the spring does in fact work as a return. This is its most important function. There is a “compensation port” that is opened at the last 30 thousands of an inch of travel when the pedal is fully up. This allows entrapped air to escape into the reservoir, fluid to return to the reservoir and fluid to be replenished to the system. Kind of important stuff!
The secondary function, once the over-center point is reached the spring in fact does assist in down force reducing driver effort.
Your car, do as you wish, but for me, a new spring would be back in.

i checked the spring and it seems to be in good condition, at most lubricated. I think the reason I felt multiple clicks was because of the button that lets the car start when the clutch is depressed was causing one of them. when pressing it down with my hand the the only really click i hear with the car not in car happens at about 10% depression. When I was driving i also felt like it was click more when i was in first gear too, like the added stress was causing it. is this even possible?
thanks

The reason I asked, changing to DOT 4 fluid, which is a good thing, sometimes will cause a click or squeak type noise from the clutch master right after the switch from DOT 3. The noise will go away after a few days of use.
Unrelated to your click noise issue, I would suggest changing out all fluids that are 11 years old. This includes the brake and clutch fluid, trans, dif and coolant. Your car will thank you!!
