The computer in my father's 1998 Vette is fried. Can I swap it with another 1998-2002 Vette? If so, what do I need to look for? What else needs to be changed along with it?
You can install a late model PCM in a 98 but the pin outs are different and need to changed.
And you will need a tuner to change the VIN in the new computer to match your car.
Really not worth the expense if the car is stock.
You really need to attempt to get the proper PCM for your car as opposed to modifying wiring to get a newer one to work. You'll also need a dealer to program in RPO codes. Note that just replacing the computer, the car will not start up. A security relearn procedure must be accomplished first. If you can't find a new PCM, try a corvette recycler and see if you can get one that way for your year then have it taken to a dealer for installation and programming.
