Default Recommend mods for '98 vette

I have a 1998 Corvette and my friend wants to go to the track and race. He has a 1995 Eagle Talon AWD w/ turbo and unknown mods. Obviously I don't want to lose so what can I do to modify my vette. I have $5,000 to spend on the new mods.

So being that this wil take place AT THE TRACK, I think you'd already beat him. I'd hate for you to JUST spend the 5k to beat him.

Honestly, you can do some things to your car to make it fast aka gears in the rear, intake manifold, this and that. But if you want a WORLD of a difference, maybe do a supercharger kit. I know you said you have 5K to spend, but can you stretch that to about 6.5? That'll get you a BRAND NEW reliable kit from A&A and you'll be at like 500+RWHP.

Otherwise, just do some nitrous and gears if you wanna keep the cost down.

No point in racing someone with unknown mods. Race him first or find out what he runs, then you can buy just what you need to.

You already won because you're not the fool driving a DSM.

worst case scenario.... ....just say it's new cant blame you for that. 'vettes do have a decent sized learning curve.

if you just have to do something right this minute go for the LOUDEST exhaust possible. if you blow out his eardrums and his equilibrium is off your guaranteed to win

But my vote definitely says save your money and get accustomed to the car and when you get about 9-10k and get this:

http://www.blowerdriveservice.com/ls1.php

bc like i said hole-in-hood = extreme intimidation = automatic win. o and you can still go scary fast as with any power adder
of course one disclamer, this idea is from the kid that wanted to put glasspacks on his vette so....

Find out what turbo he has and how much boost he's pushing. I just came from the DSM scene and i've seen a lot of 500+awhp DSM's. Mine was pushing 400awhp. My friends was pushing 600awhp.

Talon's start with 150hp 130tq he would need a lot of $$$$ in to his car to smoke you. Save your money then when you have $6,500 go with a S/C

The non turbo had that. Turbo versions had 205-210hp and 205-220tq stock. It wouldnt be expensive at all to get 275rw out of it. And with the 4wd that is enough to put a hurting on a 98 coupe, especially if its a tall geared auto.

I have had 2 talons over the years and they can really cause you to have a bad day on the street. Their are two local guy's that run in 8.5 limited class running mid 5s in the 1/8th so be careful. I have also seen some that can't hardly get out of their own way.
