I just installed the Mcleod adjustable M/C last night. I have the adjustment all the way in and it engages about 3 inches off the floor. Is that right or should it engage closer to the floor. I have been having a problem shifting my car and high rpms. I have not tested it yet to see how it shifts or if this will help me. I have the star stage III clutch with stage IV pressure plate. I don't know what I am going to do if this does not fix my problem.
EVERY aftermarket clutch for high HP cars should have an adj. m/c. This is why so many failed in the beginning. Your engagement sounds to be ok. Have you attempted any high RPM shifts? BTW, where did you find the Mcleod one, I thought they were back ordered for months.

I got it from MTI. They were in stock. Actually they made a mistake and sent me two. I already sent one back and got credited for it. Call and talk to Chris or Jason and they will hook you up.
I will do a run tonight and see if that fixes my problem.

Hope that does the trick, Greg. :yesnod: I know you were very disappointed at Hallsville last weekend. You still kicked butt, though, and that car is gorgeous! :D

Thanks for the props. I am at my wits end with this. I hate to have to go to another clutch install. It will not ever be a STAR SPEC clutch though. It will be either Mcleod or Cartek.
I ran a 12.4 @127MPH trying to get my car to shift all the way down the track. Damn clutches. Stock hydraulics suck.
By the way that was on someone half empty bottle of nitrous with around 900psi. I ran a 12.7@121.?MPH on motor with a 2.4 60ft time. My car should be in the tens with a 127MPH trap speed. Should have bought an automatic.
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Real men drive 6 speeds. If they can at least shift them. I must not be a real man.
I have the cartek adjustable m/c and their clutch and I want to say it engages close to the floor. I've never really measured it though. But can take a look at this week. Btw I think I'm going to go to Ennis this friday. You should come out and test it.
with 127mph and a good 60' time, say hello 10's. I would like to do the same as my car will mph around 127 also but I don't want to put a slick on the car as I'm sure I'll break something.
Well I went for my road test last night. I have the M/C adjusted to where it engages close to the top. Actually right at the very end of the travel. I could not get it any closer because I ran out of threads. I can adjust out more, but can not adjust in any more at all without putting a die and adding more threads.
Went from a roll first gear. Bam hit second and heard a scratch. Hit third and bam another scratch. Seemed to be alot better than before. Repeated this two more times and hit the gears every time. I am going to Ennis on Friday and will truely see if this is the fix.
My concern though is should the engagement be closer to the floor? I can not get any closer without cutting some of the rod and re-threading. Everything seems to work ok right now though. I will try it out and see if this will work this Friday at Ennis.
PS I haven't heard a scratch in a while from my car. Third sounded sweet and maybe I will hear it in fourth again at the track this weekend.
It shouldn't engage just off the floor. That will make the problem worse. If its engaging just off the floor that means that the pressure plate has the least amount of travel. The problem with some of these shifting issues is that the disk is not getting freed enough between gears. As you stated, it get better when it came in on the top of the travel. I think you still have it engaging to high, but should be able to find a happy medium. Thats the problem with adjustable M/C's. You have to get them just right. Also keep in mind that a small amount of threads equates to quite a change in piston movement.
