Default 1999 ABS Issue

A friend has a 99 that needs the ABS valve body replaced. He had 2 different mechanics check it out. He was told it would cost $2400 for the repair. Does anyone besides GM offer these ABS valvebodies?

Thanks

You can try this place for used or rebuilt. Some here say they are just used units, and they aren't rebuilt. I can't say, as I have no personal experience with this company.

I am not sure of your meaning.

Did he tell you he could or could not read the codes?

If all he told you was the BPMV motor is stalled the code for that is C1243. There could be other codes. Did the other mechanics actually check the circuitry or did they read the code and assume it was the pump motor. There are several possible causes for this code: 1) Wiring or Ground Issues; 2) BPMV Motor Bad; 3)EBTCM Bad; 4)Both EBCTM and BPMV bad due to leak. Like all the other codes you can't assume the name of the code tells you anything about what is bad. All that does is tell you where the symptom to the problem was noticed.

Does he know how to read the codes using the DIC?

Here is the diagnostic for C1243:
