Well, technically it will be my second mod, did the zip tie mod already. Kinda felt a small difference but don't like the looks of the zip tie's showing , so probably will go with an aftermarket CAI. So it would be my second mod. Should it be headers long tubes 1 7/8 primaries or 4.10 gears. \
If I were you I would get headers and some Z06 ti mufflers, you can search the for sale section and pick up a set of arh headers and ti mufflers for about the price of new headers. You just have to be patient and ready to buy when they come up. Im sure you could get some kooks for a good price too but Ive head that they are a PITA to install.

Gears, but 4.10 might be a little too much in an A4 unless it's just an around town cruiser.
depends what your budget is. imo, since you are getting an intake, i would upgrade the rear and/or mid section of your exhaust for the added sound, flow and looks. I would hold off on the headers until you completed this mod so you could then get a tune when you install your headers and really maximize all of those mods. Just my $0.02
You could do the headers and then a tune with the stock mid and rear but the stock mid and rear will affect your gains. If you swap them later you should re tune but thats kind of like throwing money away. again, just my $0.02

What gears do you have now? If it is the stock 2.73 go to 3.42 and you will be very happy. If you have the 3.15s get the headers and a tune and move on. 4.10's will be a little too high revving for highway use.

See my goal is to run a low to mid 11's and still keep my car somewhat docile on the street. Back when I was racing my hydraulic roller '86 camaro with a 383 I had some 4.10s and drove it quite often on the highway with no problem tolerating the rpm increase. Later on with a Lt1 camaro same 4.10 gearing and loved it. The vette as it sits to me (3.15 gears) needs some serious get up and go .

Looks like after reading alot of the posts the best first mod would be exhaust upgrade . It does 2 important things , it improves performance and it improves the rumble of the exhaust. I just want to make sure the exhaust note goes with what a c5 corvette should sound like.
first my changes - blackwing, Z06 intake (mine was a 2000 - smaller intake) - heads/cam - headers (mine Kooks but I'd go with American Racing now for sure) - yank SS3600 stall convertor (this was the big difference!!! - no daily driving issues at all) - 3.42 gears and hardened shaft (don't forget that!!!) - all this comes to 11.83 in the quarter mile - 60ft time is 1.67 seconds - it do jump~~~highway mileage is 28 mpg.
Friend has the same as mine - (his head chambers are 59cc -mine62dcc) and he has 3.73 gears - all else the same: He does 11.45 in the 1/4 mile due to smaller chambers and those 3.73 gears - still a good highway car
I'd do blackwing and headers and xpipe first - the Z06 titanium cat back system is the way to go (guy above has this - great sound)- you must open up the two ends of this air sucking machine first!!!!

Thanks for posting , that's where I want to have the vette at. Looks like I will be lurking in the for sale section waiting for a deal.

You don't need that much gear to run mid-11's. I have run 11.5-11.6's with my 3.42. More HP and a better converter would get me even lower. I would just stop at 3.73 if you want to go higher.

That's what I am probably going with(3.73's) when the gears mod time arrives. I have also been reading up on what I want when I go internal engine modifications. I was all set on some 243's ported and ls6 intake but then ran into this http://www.mastmotorsports.com/2010/...sembled&id=360. Don't know now
