Ok I was wondering If I could use the shocks, sway bars, and leaf springs from an 07 c6 z51 on my base 1998 C5 coupe? Is it all compatible and are there any modifications that need to be done in order for it all to work? thanks in advance - Shawn
the shocks on my 00 are from a c6z06 and my sway bar is from a C6z51 and they both bolted right in, common swap around here. not sure about the leaf spring though.
Have you considered the shocks, sway bars and springs from a C5/Z06?
No the reason I was asking is because I just picked up C6 Z51 sway bars, shocks, and springs from a member for $150. I was curious if the Leafs would work and if they did if it was worth using over the C5 stocks. And I'm wondering if anyone knows if The C6 Z51 shocks are Any better than the c5 base shocks? Because I dont wanna change them out if there is no diffence. I would think the C6 Z51 shocks would be newer technology or something. But I really have no idea about shocks.
Thanks I'll take any and all advice from forum members because Im new to the Corvette World.
I believe there was a thread a while back that said the front spring would work but not the rear due to a change in the cradle or spring design. May want to search for it.
I have the C6 Z51 sway bars and shocks in my '98, which had the base suspension originally. Best upgrade made so far! Your car will handle unbelievably better.
I have the c6 z51 shocks and sways on my 2000 and it really improved the handling. I lowered it at the same time I installed the shocks and I do find the ride a bit more harsh. I seem to be one of the few with this feedback but thought I should pass it along anyway. make sure you add the factory metal end links too (just in case you didn't get them with the rest of the stuff).
overall it was a great upgrade and you got a smoking price on all that gear
