Default stowage lid getting damaged

Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but my stowage lid is getting damaged when I take my roof up and down. It looks like the bow arms are hitting it and rubbing the paint. I have a place behind both seats. I have searched the threads and can't find any info about this. Is there an adjustment I can do to keep them from hitting the lid? I am not talking about the problem with the fabric of the roof rubbing the deck, the black arms are actually hitting the stowage lid. I afraid it is going to eventually leave permanent damage. Any help much appreciated.

The paint wear issue, unfortunately, will probably require more than an adjustment.

GM issued a TSB to correct the tonneau paint wear problem. This requires the installation of a redesigned 5th bow weatherstrip seal. The new seal is designed to better contact the black rub strip, on the tonneau cover, and nearly eliminates contact of the painted surface. The GM part number for the seal is 10319827

This is not the problem I am having.......the metal bows are touching the stowage lid, not the deck lid. they are making a mark the size of maybe a pencil eraser in the paint. They are contacting it during the process of putting the top up and down. The marks are on the corner as the lid begins to come down behind the seat.

Is your Tonneau cover (stowage lid?) not staying up? When my struts were bad I would hit the convertible top against the Tonneau cover and make marks.

If that what you are talking about try this!

When I want to drop the top, I unlatch both sides at the front window then lift the front of the top to be able to lift the rear. It is during this move that the metal bows hit the top of the tonneau cover/stowage lid. I saw another car that this was happening on as well and he didn't know how to fix it. Basically, when the top is being taken down or put up the bars are hitting the top of the stowage lid. I can stick my head inside and watch the process, the bars come down as the top collapses and hit the lid. Sorry if I'm not explaining correctly.

I typically leave my top down at all time and I've been able to buff out the spots but it's getting to a point that I can't get them to buff out.

The pivot point where the top is mounted (behind the seats) is adjustable. It "SOUNDS" like that may be your issue but without seeing it?????

Do you have the tonneau lid open BEFORE you raise the front section of the top?

I have two spots like that on my lid also. Didn't know how they got there. Good info on the new design WS and struts also.

Not sure how you would do that under normal operation?

Not when you are putting the top down. Pretty obvious that the lid would need to be opened to raise the top!

Default have to fix this!

Finally got a pic of the problem. Mine is the third Vette I've seen with this problem. There is a little "pad" on the section of the bow that's hitting the lid. Any help much appreciated!

Mine also, but mine is much worse. The paint is wore off of mine, but the car has 141,000 miles on it. I thought about repainting it in the spring. I'll have to see about doing some adjusting before I do.
