2004 gas smell
Bringing my 2004 in to the stealership. Have had strong gas fumes smell for about a month now getting stronger everyday. Smell coming from drivers rear, near tire.
My vin is part of the group that qualifys for special coverage for the tank, crossover problem.
When they replace the parts are they the same parts that are in the car now or replacement parts that prevent the problem from reoccuring??

There were a batch of tanks that had a manufacturing problem in late 2003 and early 2004 when they were built and that is the reason for the limited range of VIN's that are part of the special coverage from GM.
The replacement parts are functionally identical to the parts that fail. There is no difference except that the failed parts were part of a manufacturing/assembly defect and the replacements likely are NOT defective.
