Compression test - OK to do without exhaust or throttle body?
Hydrolocked the 2000 but got it running again. Throwing a P1515 so I ordered up a throttle body. While I'm waiting for it I'd like to do a compression test and install headers. Is it OK to do a compression test without the throttle body and exhaust? I assume I'm just looking for readings within 10% on all cylinders.

You could always try doing a leakdown test instead of compression, no need to run the motor
I meant no need to spin the engine over with the starter. LOL

How do you figure? You still need need to have each cylinder at TDC.

It's perfectly fine doing it that way.
Back in the days of carburetors, they even recommended holding the carb throttle plates open, when doing a compression test, to allow sufficient air to enter the cylinders.
