storage compartment lid stuck

storage compartment lid stuck
hi, my top is down and the lid wont release. i have checked the manual and the internet, but i cant seem to find the release cable from the one picture i have seen.
can someone give me a better idea of where it is? i dont like tearing the carpeting apart more than needed. i have checked behind the waterfall thru the cubbyholes behind the headrest, i do find power wires but no cable. am i in the right area?
(i dont think its the fuse the windows go down and i pulled the fuse and checked it)
