I have a 2002 Z06 that has an LS3 swapped in. I have had 2 seperate times now that the transmission has refused to shift into reverse. I have to push with all my 280lb weight to get it to go into reverse. The other gears shift freely and the car drives fine. The car does have a aftermarket shifter in it that the previous owner put in, I dont know what type. The 2 times when this happened were after a day of autoxing, I dont know if that matters Do you guys think the shifter is messed up, or the tranny?
It does not make any difference if the car is running or not. The car has a Tex 0700 clutch installed new with the LS3 which has 2-3k miles on it
Any thoughts?
Do you have issues with getting it to go all the way to the right of the H pattern, or getting it to go up after it's all the way right? I ask because there is a reverse lockout solenoid that prevents you from moving the shifter all the way right when the car is moving forward, and if it's malfunctioning it could be causing this.
When mine does not go easily into reverse, I can usually drop it into a forward gear, then lightly engage the clutch, and go back to reverse.
I don't think I have ever had it not go into reverse after bumping the transmission a little.
