I recently bought an Autocraft Gold battery 1000 CA, 800 CCA, 115 RM from Advance Auto Parts for $66.99 with a $40 off online coupon. Their batteries are made by Johnson Controls who makes the batteries for Sears, Auto Zone, Walmart, Interstate, Kirkland and others.
I was at O'Reilly's ealier this evening getting a dead battery replaced but not for my Vette. While waiting, a guy came in carrying a YellowTop Optima and he said it was the second one he'd had go bad on him in the last year. He uses it in his Ford pickup and does not drive it daily. Just for your information. Good luck.
On my 2nd red top. The 1st one lasted 2yrs. Advance Auto replaced it for free. Now I have a battery tender on it. Red tops do not like to be drained and recharged.
Any AGM battery would be OK. Do not get a acid battery. I was one of those people that said a leaky battery would never happen to me, I know what I am doing. Well guess what, my AC Delco leaked and corroded my vacuum hose. 8 hours of cleaning and repairing later, I learned my lesson the hard way. Bought a Optima, keep a tender on it in the winter. Be smart!
Odyssey Batteries - http://www.odysseybattery.com/ AWESOME POWER - And can sit for a year w/o a charge! They are not cheap!
I talked the the owner of Odyssey Batteries at SEMA, and he said he used to own Optima. After he sold Optima he started Odyssey. They make a much smaller battery good for power sports and racing also, and just as powerful. I think after he sold Optima they went down hill.

That's the same company (Enersys) that manufactures the Platinum series Die Hard batteries (only) for Sears in their plant in Missouri.
Just to keep things in perspective, I had an expensive experience with Odyssey Batteries, and they would not honor their warranty even after less than a year.
