2000 gauge cluster

2000 gauge cluster

If I replace my entire gauge cluster with one from another car, is the mileage stored in the computer and will appear correct on the new cluster or is that something that the cluster stores? I don't want to be accused of odometer fraud. My title states more mileage than the car that the new cluster came out of. I know someone will ask so, the only reason I'm considering replacing the cluster is because I access to one out of a Z06 that has upgraded needles, faces and LED's behind.
