Chrome Wheels on Vettes (question)
I hear you can have your stock vette wheels converted into chrome wheels by having a shop dip them into chrome.
If anyone knows what type of place does this.. please let me know.

Do to EPA restrictions on heavy metals, chrome platers are not just shops around the corner. you should look in your phone book for locals and search the net for country wide.

Yes you can have them chrome plated. Alot of dealers will send them out for you but they will add mark-up to the cost. I would do as was suggested and find a plating company near by. :)

They can be plated .. first they must be stripped, then polished, then copper-plated, followed by nickel-plating and finally chrome. All the magic is in the polishing.

I had my original painted wheels dipped in chrome. I paid $750 which included changing the tires and computer balance. Check sig. for a pic. I found a local shop by talking to some of the local car dealers. They told me where they send out chrome wheels for repair/re-chroming. There are good chrome shops and not so good ones so, I would try to find one through referrel and then you can check out their work beforehand. Don't forget, you will need to buy chrome lugnuts and chrome center caps as well. Happy shopping.
Another option would be to check out the chrome repos. on the forum. The prices have come down and it may be worth it just to swap them out. :D

To get the standard C5 wheels only chromed... do you have to go through a dealership? (im talking about buying new ones instead of getting my stock ones chrome plated)

I got my chrome wheels (stock 5 spoke ones) from corvettes of houston. They ran me about $600 + shipping & after I returned my stock painted ones to them and they credited me the core charge of 300.
I am happy with the quality and they had good service. They are vendors here so you can locate them easily.
