Ok I'm not new to the forum but I am new to the C5 world. The shifter in the 99 FRC I just picked up is not the most precise so I'm looking to upgrade . What are my choices and what do you recommend? If it makes a difference I'm going to use the car for Autox and Hillclimb's?

I tried Kirban, Hurst and B&M..... all improvements over the stock wet noodle, but I have been using an MGW for the last year and I think its the best for me. Its very subjective as far as what is the best one...you may have to try a few to make a final decision.
Good Luck!
I'll never understand how someone at GM got into the corvette, used the horrible stock shifter and said "yep, this'll do just fine!" and approved them to ship like that.
I've had a C6 shifter in my C5 and noticed no appreciable difference from stock. I now have a MGW and love it. Much shorter throws but more shift effort required particularly into 5th and 6th.

I am running a B&M Ripper and like it way better than stock but it is a bit notchy so I plan on the Antivenom mod soon. Currently laid up with a bad shoudler so no driving or mods for a while.
I was advised by a member back a year or so ago that on e-lay there is a cheap $20 short throw shifter that he swears by. I purchased one but have not yet worked up the courage to install it. The bug will hit me this winter and I will go for it and report back. I know, I may just be digging my grave a little deeper !!!!

There was one on my Z when I bought it.... its a total piece of garbage. It looks nice, but its made of soft metal and it theres no element of precision in the design. Dont bother wasting your time installing it. What kind of quality do you think youre going to have with a 20 dollar shifter made in China?

Well well, I believe I donated $20 to the Bill's a dumb_ss foundation. I suspected (actually deep down I 'knew' that) the deal was too good to be true but I bit. Ohh well this is one of my cheaper gotcha's . thanks a ton for the opinion. Seriously, thanks........
I used a Hurst for a few years, then switched to the MGW. A lot less vibration, and it feels a lot crisper than the Hurst, which was already light-years ahead of the stock shifter.
I also use a MGW with their Race ****. I love it and makes you realize how bad the stock shifter really is. However I have been contemplating going with the long shaft MGW. No issues with the original shorty, just a personal preference.
