Blackwing vs. Vortex Rammer
If not I guess I will go for a nice cold  :D
PERIOD........
Vortex, 6 speed, XR-1 and crappy 60 foots of 2.14 = 12.78 12.80's all day long.
:seeya
If there is a big difference then I will switch but if it is something like 5 HP and less than a 1/10 of a second in the 1/ mile then I would stay were I am at.

Dyno numbers  Typically the car is dynoed with the hood up! The vortex and all other bottom breathers are sucking air off the garage floor...hopefully they have a fan running. You wont find your answer from dyno numbers :nonod:
I have personally used in the following order...Donaldson...Donaldson with cold air cover...Vortex...Halltech bottom breather. I got 14-16hp gains over stock on all four combinations. Prices ranging from a $225.00 to $550.00. You could say they yielded identical performance on the dyno...keeping tolerances in mind.
Track times were consistently .3 better than stock. The Donaldson without cold air ran the same times as the Halltech. So much for the ram air effect!:nonod:
I am currently running the Donaldson without cold air or cold air screens. I am pleased. I like the access and the guage that tells me its time for a cleaning.
I spoke with one of the MTI guru, regarding going back to Donaldson from the Vortex...we both felt that the additional filter surface area and the quality of the media on the Donaldson offset any cold air gains and "Ram Air" from the smaller filtered Vortex.
The track has proven this to be true when I was running 313 hp/317 tq and now that I have 408hp/394tq.
All testing was done with the MAF screen removed.
I know how much the forum loves "Cold Air" and "Ram Effect" so flame away!
Just one question...How many of you have both Track, Dyno and experience with all three systems?
Now next time do a complete archive search so I dont have to come back here again :D
