Within the last 1000 miles I had new pistons and rings put into a stock 00 coupe. The engine was knocking upon start and the dealer said that was what was needed and warranty paid.
I now am told that I should "back flush" the engine, with MOBIL ONE of course, to the tune of $180.00.
Has anyone ever heard of this? Wouldn't the pan have been off for the honing of the walls and any debris fallen through or out?

:bs :bs
It sounds like the dealers new lil toy is using that pressure flush or whatever he calls it. THey just pump hot oil under pressure through the enigne. CAn help with engines using regular oil, but with synth, it is not needed. Probably just anthoer high margin (for them :D ) usless process (for you).
IMO

The dealer, service writer, only "recommended" the proceedure. I quote, "After all it is a $40k car, and $180.00 is a small investment"...
I really do like the dealership and the writer, I had purchased the car used only 2 weeks before having this done. I signed the bill to GM..$3400.00!!!
Didn't buy it from them.

Tell him they are a multi-million dollar dealership, and $180 is a small investment to make you a happy customer and do it on the house;)
