What are the best and longest lasting plugs to use for a weekend cruiser ? I was watching speedchannel and they were working on a C 5 and they were recommending some new champion plugs. How long should plugs last for a summer driven c 5 Z 06 with headers ( if that even makes a difference, don't know ? )
Yep ... iridium plugs will last the longest. Also note that the spark plug gap was changed from 0.060" to 0.040" awhile back - ACDelco has a service bulletin indicating, so don't try to re-gap iridium or platinum plugs for the LS1/LS6.

All the "new material "plugs of late are great for longivity--But there is no HP gains if you have the correct heat range---
The main thing to remember---Even though the plugs can last 100K miles---you still need to remove them at least every 40K miles or so OR you will never get them out!! The plugs become sorts welded in with rust-carbon and sometimes even break off if you don't take them out once in awile--opening up a host of new problems for you--Also using just a tpouch of anti-sieze when installing new ones will prevent them form getting "glued" to your heads !!!
