Its not the best choice of Battery types considering its location.. You should Not have to add any water on any type of regular basis... ON other cars in my garage I never have to add water.. If you are adding water on a regular basis, something is wrong.. could be a regulator issue.

I have three Optima batteries. One is New ( 3 months old ) The other two I have are 7 years and five years.. I replaced the seven year old battery because it was seven years old.. I had it tested and is still in perfect condidtion..I bought the third Optima bassed on my great service with the others.. IM confused about you not getting another Optima under the five year warranty associated with these batteries.. three years is a full replacement, five years is prorated..

Bought it out of state--autozone wont warranty it--besides after just 3 years and goes dead--i dont want another piece of s--t called optima--enough for me--
I got a free yellow top optima because it was "dead" and a year old. I charged it and its still going strong in perfect shape, and that was over two years ago. Just the other day i left my fog lights on in the driveway for over two hours, started right up.

I bought all of my Optimas from Advanced auto, not Autozone.. I just called them and asked about interstate sales on Optima batteries.. I was told that Optima warranties their Batteries no matter from what state they are bought. If you are out of state on a trip and have a problem, the warranty is honored at all Optima retail outlets, like Pepboys, Autozone, Advanced Auto. So you chose to buy an acid lead battery inspite of the fact that the PCM and vacuum lines and wire harness are directly below the battery?? Seems like instead of following through with Optima.. a much superior design compared to an acid battery for a C5, you chose to put your car in Hamrs way on a daily basis... BTW they have warranties because a baterry or anything can have a flaw.. and they are making sure that in that event you get what you pay for... and they back it for 5 years.

A sealed battery as oppose to an Acid battery which has vents, and caps that can leak, and the vapor can cause contamination directly below the battery tray where thousands of dollars in grief are lurking..The sealed gel battery like an Optima, or any other similar type battery is the way to go with a C5.. just about every manufacturer makes this type of battery, because of this type of application.. This is just a heads up for those about to buy a New battery.. They are expensive, but get a leak or a boil out with an acid battery and you would have wished you bought the right battery. A leaking battery can cost you over a thousand dollars to repair the damage it can cause. Like the above member,, there is no guarantee that any battery wont have a problem.. his New Acid battery could crack or leak. A C5 engine bay is a very hot environment and does not promote any cooling for a vented acid battery. A boil out is not an issue with a gel battery. THat's why they put this type of battery in million dollar off shore racing boats... I chose this type of Battery because its the best design for my application.

OPTIMA is not a gel battery--anyway i called the dealer and yes they will warranty it--so ill give it 1 more chance--thx to all --
Going strong for about 5 years. Lead acid batteries are FINE in a vette.
Screw the $150 Optima batteries. Like Charlie the tuna do you want good grammer or good taste. My $ at less then half the price is better spent elsewhere. Don't overfill. Just up to the place where the fluid touches the bottom of the round hole.
