In the door accordian tube, there's a connector there with the serial data interface wire. The pin/socket will become lose over time and lose you comm to the control module. Now another thing to look at will be the fuse for that module in the passenger footwell.
They just pop in the hole that they go thru. Collaps one side and pop it out. The wiring harness connectors are in the Door Frame A pillar.
Something else that can cause the U series codes is a weak or aged battery. When you crank the engine, if the battery voltage drop down too low,,, it will cause modules to shutdown and set a U series DTC.
Make sure that the FEMALE PINS in the connectors are not deformed and spread apart.
You can bend the tabs back up.
