Default I bought a tuner

Hello
I bought a tuner (HP)today. I am replacing my tranny and just to be safe I bought a tuner. Now I will be able to adjust my shift points.

My question is: Are there any general PERFORMANCE paramaters I should adjust while I am tuning it? Anyone want to throw out a link to somewhere? I figured I might as well as adjust other paramaters while I'm at it.

I am a plumber. I can rebuild the engine but asking me about the engineering of it is out of my league. I understand the basics but not the details. With children and a company to run I don't have the time to learn. So, I turn to the knowledge of others.

Thanx for any suggestions, links, or help.

I have an HPTune on the way. I understand that when you get your serial number you can register on their website and go to their forum where tunes are available from other members.

I've been to their repository, but the tunes you can get there are either stock or with many mods. Nothing for just a good performance tune if you have just changed axle back and air box. I did get some help on the A4 tuning from another HP user, but have not used my HP Tuner for anything else in the 5 years I've had it.

Well that sounds like you should have thought about it a bit more before you purchased it.

They have shops that tune for those that do not want to learn how to do it.

You can cause serious problems if you do not know what you are doing.

first, if you didn't get the pro so you can use a wb then you're not going to be to use 85% of the software.

second, if you're going to take the time to learn how to tune you would be better off just buying a mailorder tune, about $150 now.
