Default Stupid Metal End Links!

Im trying to swap out the crappy plastic links for some metal ones.

The problem Im having is that the new ones have slightly longer bolts. and at a certian point it gets VERY difficult to tighten anymore, and its not tight.

Should I use some washers?

First time I've heard of that issue.....and no, you should not use washers.

I thought it was weird too. Its the nut that is the issue, I cant remember the name of them, But it only lets you put them on until the back of the nut is flush with the threads.

So maybe I'll just pick up some new nuts that are "normal" style.

...and then they will come loose on the track....which you don't want. Those nuts are self locking.

I'm no expert, by my spidey senses are telling me you are in the "make it work mode" , feeling the pressure of being ready for the track. I encourage you to take a step back, have a beer, smoke, or just take a breath......and figure out what is wrong. Forcing things has a bad habit of coming back to bite you. Just my opinion.

lol, Yeah i suppose.

I cant see anything wrong though. At least if Im doing anything wrong. The issue is the side that connects to the sway bar. since its thinner as opposed to the botto of the control arm which is thick.

I used the Moog's and didn't have an issue. I did find the ones on the front endlink hard to tighten on the car but remove the sway bar and it is easy.

I changed them on mine and it went fine. It sounds like you need to keep tightening the nut. It does get hard to turn when you get through the nut because of the self locking part. Are you holding the stud part with a torx to keep it from turning while you tighten the nut? It is a T40.

Take it apart and see if you are running out of threads on the stud. Maybe the sway bar is thinner than the thread length?

When we installed my metal end links we loosened the sway bar connections, set the end links to the same threads, installed them and then tightened the sway bar connections. only then did we tighten up the end links. Firm but not grunt tight. Been good for 8K since then. Checked them a couple of time since then,,,no movement,,,blue locktite!

You have to use two wrenches on each to make it tighten up. Its a PITA to work in the confined space under there but it can be done. I just did all four on mine and it took me about an hour but it takes two wrenches, not one, or else you cannot tighten it.
