Was looking under my car today to see where those pucks go. As I got this car back in November I haven't had a need to jack it up. So was looking to day and there is a medal strip about 1" wide by say 4 feel long and about 1/4 inch thick. It goes over both the front and back holes where the pucks go. It does sit where I could put a flat board on my jack and jack it up. Does this sound like that is what it is for or is it a skid plate of some sort?

Sounds like rub rails to protect the lower rockers. I have them on mine with jacking pads welded to it. I would still only jack where the pads would normally go and a block of wood should do the job.
Quite a few Forum vendors sell the rocker rails. I have the original A&A rails. They are cheaper but cover the holes for the pucks. Elite Engineering make a nice set which have cutouts which take the pucks.
You can jack the car on any of them. the main thing to avoid is any contact with the SMC which covers the rocker panel as it will crack if the jack makes contact. Pucks or rails achieve that. The SMC is bonded to the car so it's a PITA to change the rocker panel.
Yes, you can jack it up using the "Rocker Savers" Mine are thicker because I made them thicker for reason.

Mine look like these too because I also made them myself. Costs me all of about two hours of my time. I've dragged them more than once. To bad the rockers were already dinged up by the PO.
If you have these, then you can jack anywhere on them. Just make sure the jack won't slip into the rocker. I often jack right in the middle of mine.
