We just completed at 1,600 mile trip, highway, city, traffic, etc. Overall mileage was 23.3. Several tank fulls on highway cruise at 10 over the speed limit was 27-29. 1998 A4, 3.15 ratio
Drivng around town, hilly, curvy and slow is about 18-19 typically. Have seen as lot as 15 when either I or Susan get on it a lot.
The right foot has a lot to do with gas mileage under any conditions!
I use mine as a daily driver and drive it moderately hard. I am getting 16mpg and that sounds about right as to the driving I do. On a trip a while back I was getting 27mpg.
I first trip I took to LA I locked the cuise on 80mph and got 30mpg :yesnod: , but haven't been able to repeat that again.....I guessing because using the cruise is not fun!
Lately if been getting about 12-14 in town......I have to keep that right foot active.
I think my MN6 helps on the highway mileage, but hurts me in town, not that it really matters.
My 2001 mn6 vert gets 18-20 city and 28-31 highway under normal driving conditions. The difference in highway mileage is due to the air conditioner being on or off and if I fill up in the city. Here in Dallas, the gas has an additive in it that lowers the mpg.
If I get on it, I get about 16 city and 27 highway.
Your numbers seem low. Make sure you are using premium fuel and check to see if you gas station has any additives that may negatively affect mileage.
I started this thread..... I'm here in Connecticut where they oxygenate the gas. I always use Sunoco 94 Ultra, but maybe the additive is giving me poor results?
I get between 22 to 24. I have notived if I have a lot of city driving it drops fast. Sitting in a fast food drive up window it drops really fast. So if you sit at red lights it will drop real fast.
Driving style is the #1 reason for poor, med and Stellar MPG.I have a car real similar to one of the guys who reponded to this post.I too use the XMS wheels from Xtreme set it next to a Mallett and there is no spec differance ounce to ounce weight and there HRE/Fikse quality and we only get about 20 sets in at a time but now there in stock,I'm also using the Pilot Sports.Tire pressure, smooth take offs, discipline ,letting it get to almost full operating temp before you give it the gun 175 water 150 oil temps.Hard braking should be avoided 3 mos /3K oil changes I recomend red line and the UPF-44 filter and a real good low restriction intake and a free flowing exhaust like the new Stingers and of course if its in the budget some TPIS or Bellanger long tube headers.
The faster and more efficient we make your motor we do it by incresing Volumetric efficiency. In EZ terms the more efficient we are at getting the complete fuel/air mixture in the cylinder and exiting the burnt gasses and burning those gasses as close to 100% as possible the faster your car will be and also you will see a noticable increase in POWER and your car will be beating more cars than ever. Here is a small list of mods you can discuss more fully with Mike a trained Tech and mechanical engineer and /or Nate who has C-5 fluids running through his veins.
1-Blakhawk intake
2-Stinger exhaust
3-Long tube headers
4-ported and polished MAF done by Nate PERFECTLY
5-160 degree thermostat
6-Red line fluids Oil/trans/and rear end
7-UPF-44 oil filter or K&N equivalent
8OPTIONAL if your looking for many more ponnies A stage2 head /cam package would increase your Volumetric efficiency HUGE and slap you with alot more HP.and Tqe.
This all added up works together in harmony drive it moderate you should be getting 20mpg around town.Beat on it and it will come down to 15-18+ Get on the open road and cruise between 70-95 and you should hi 26+ mpg.
it will be alot of car without the Cam/head which is the most expensive part of the conversion when I say alot consistent hi 11's low 12's,spend a few more buks aint no fortune and go for 3:42's consistent 11.5's or better.
A great place to start is with the intake, exhaust,Redline fluids and filters,160 stat and ported and polished MAF done by Nate best in biz proven over and over again. With the entire Package we have an enclosed 2 car custom NHRA type carrier and were cheaper and neater because we truly care about your car.For more info E-Mail Mike or Nate and like I said all advice is free if you choose us we would be honered and I forgot to mention we will RE-Program your computer(PCM) so it runs sharp picks up more mpg and lots more Ponnies about 20.
Weve been doing this a long time turn around time is about 20 working days and being it would be designed as a package it would be a flat rate price so if it takes us 10extra hours to tune it perfect youll get the time at no additional charge
You can reach us at 480-517-4969 or see the link on my sig and tell 'em Dave sent you .The best of luck to you and remember the basic parts are done real EZ. without a ton of tools and lifts required.Yours Truly.Dave S.
Depends on the gears I choose. If I want to have good acceleration available and use 4th gear, I may average 19-21 mpg. If I switch to 5th, it goes up to about 24-26 and if I want real economy, I use 6th and have gotten as high as 29-31 mpg. These are measured numbers and not just DIC readings. My DIC is usually off by about .5 mpg on the plus side.
