Default Wash Car -- Get Errors on DIC

Washed the car tonight, went to start it put it in the garage, and was immediately greeted with all sorts of weird messages on the DIC. First it showed that I had no average speed or mpg, then a Reduced Engine Power, then low fuel, then I think the tire pressure. The temp gauge is pegged at 260, and the fuel gauge reads zero. It won't even attempt to start.

I'm optimistic I got something wet and it just needs to dry out. Anyone think I'll be this lucky?

Sounds like a low batt. Car driven much? Has it sat for 2-3+ weeks without being started?

Did you spray under the hood?

Radio on while washing?

Check the passenger side floor mat for water and if there is, open the access panel there and look for water on the BCM. Do not remove the BCM unless you disconnect the battery first.

First thing I would do is inspect the drivers door acordian tube wiring, this is a classic class 2 serial buss failure.

I drive the car daily, so it isn't a battery related problem. The hood was closed, so I didn't spray directly under it. The only water that would go under would be what ran down the windshield. The radio was not on while I was washing.

I will check this after work. If it is still wet, or got wet, is it fried?

I will check this as well. I'll search for other posts on this to see what I'm looking for and what to do about it.

Furthermore, I noticed this morning that the radio doesn't power on or display the clock.

If the BCM got wet, good chance its still good but will need to be dried out carefully. Try what lucky suggested first but check that floor!

Well, I checked the BCM and it is dry as a bone. So, I attacked the accordians in both doors. All the wire harnesses seem fine. Can I unplug all 4 and see if the car will start and run, or will unplugging the harnesses not solve the problem if there is one?

You can unplug the door harnesses. Give that a try. IF,,,,,,,,,, your issue is resolved by disconnecting the door harnesses,, carefully examine all the FEMALE Pins in the connectors and look for deformed female pins like the one in this pic

If you have deformed female pins,, you can use a metal pick and re-bend the damaged tung.

By disconnecting the door modules,, you ELIMINATE the door modules from the issue. That is an effective troubleshooting step. You will see LDCM & RDCM NO COMMS messages when they are disconnected. That is completely NORMAL!!

Default DIC errors

I have been having the same problem on my '00 hard top. On the way to work this morning, all the DIC bells went off, the radio and a/c shut off and I lost control of both doors. I think there was still power because the left/right mirror contol indication still worked but the mirrors would not adjust. Anyway, when I got to work, I left the engine running (in neutral and p/b on of course), opened the driver's side door and wiggled the harness. The radio and a/c came back on and I got control of the driver's side door functions back, but NOT the passenger's side. So I opened up that door, did the same thing to the harness and control of that door returned. I will be looking at the connectors this weekend, I hope.

I unplugged all four connectors, and tried one door connected vs. the other, and no change in my problem. Interestingly, the trunk release, convertible top release, and fog lamp buttons don't appear to be working either. All pins looked ok to me.

Any other ideas?

So, it has been on a battery tender since my previous post, and I just went to try and read the codes, and expected all the familiar errors when I turned the key to "on". Well, no errors, so I pushed in the clutch and turned the key and it fricking started! So, I checked the codes anyway, and have plenty.

28 TC5 - U1301H
40 BCM - U1255 H
58 SDM - U1301 H
60 IPC - U1255 H
99 HVAC - U1064 H, U1096 H, U1160 H, U1255 H
A0 LCDM - B0228 H, B2284 H, U1064 H
A1 RDCM - B2283 H, B2285 H, U1064 H
A6 SCM - B0851 H, U1300 H, U1255 H
B0 RFA - U1000 H, U1255 H, U1064 H

I'll look these up, after I go for a spin. The car has just been sitting for soooo long!

Any reason to clear, or not to clear codes? I know H means history, so nothing is currently wrong.
