Column Lock RECUR after CLB
I have no idea the connection (if any) but thought I would put this out there. 4 years ago I placed a CLB in my 2001 MN6. Worked just perfectly until 1 month ago when I started getting "Pull Out Key, yada, ,yada, yada" and "Service Column Lock". It would take 3 or 4 attempts to get it to work again. I tried pulling fuse 23. I charged the battery. Cleaned key. It continued. In my car the fuel cut out at 2mph, otherwise nothing else. So tonight I drove it and it refused to start. Not a sound when key turned, just silence. No click of starter.....absolute silence. Battery at 13v, lights work, stereo, works, radar detector, etc. I got into the footwell and messed with the starter switch that is activated by depressing clutch pedal. Tried again......lo and behold...started right up. No messages since, though it's only been a few hours.
I do not know if there is even a connection between these parts, but CONSIDER this as a potential possibility. I'll update as the coming days pass.
You are correct. I went back and rechecked codes, this is what has appeared:
BCM. B2587 H
B2592. H
These are "Column Lock Drive A and Drive B"
A6-SCM. B2607 H
B2860 H
These are "Seat Horizontal Position Sensor Failure and Telescoping Column Position Sensor Failure"
And lastly.........
IPC U1016 H
This is "Lost Communication with XXX"
There were no current codes and I have not deleted any. I would appreciate your thoughts. My battery is only 8 months old, an Interstate 800cca/750ca. I will add this piece of info. This all began after removing the battery in an attempt to use an older Yellow Top Optimus with 750cca and a reserve of 120. The battery would not hold a charge so was again replaced with the Interstate battery.
Cables are clean. Tight. And as we talk I am measuring out 12.58v, engine off.
