Default Carbon build up removal ?

What is the best way to remove a huge carbon build-up from intake valves and pistons ? What would you use ? and how do I go about doing it ? Thank you !

Fresh tank of 93 octane and drive it hard. Then repeat for a second tank full

No more carbon build up.

Really? And what about the top of the pistons? Just curious.

Look up the decarb (or SeaFoam) procedure on the search function of both the "tech" and "general" segments of the forum. Very simple to do for less than $10 and thirty minutes of your time. Just make sure to drive the **** out of it afterwards (not that you need an excuse).

Put 2 gallons of Xylene in the tank. It will give you about 100-104 or so octane and clean off all your carbon buildup.

Google Xylene and you will see the many uses for it, your car will even run a lot better with that tank of fuel!

Drive it hard at WOT!

That will work too.

carbon build up is from driving too slow and not enough time at WOT.

Better than steel wool on top across the pistons.

I am assuming that you are having detonation and/or oil consumption issues. If so, you may want to consider putting a catch-can on your PCV circuit. These LSs are famous oil consumers due to a **** poor PCV design (and ring issues with early C5s). I have built many a baffle in the valve cover(s) of LSs and 5.0 Stangs (forgive me) to alleviate this issue. If you are consuming less than 1/2 a quart between 3-4k, just do the decarb. If more, do the catch can. There are many available on this forum for less than $100, or you can go to Home Depot and get a water/oil seperator for an air compressor for $10. Doesn't work as well...but does the job.

No...different topic. From what I have experienced, this is relative to the piston skirt vs. cylinder bore diameter. Have had slap on my vette, three f-bodies, and three Silverados. Does not sound good, but as long as you reach operating temperaure before flogging it...all is good.
